Marvin James Nolan, born the youngest of 4 to Wilbur and Hazel Nolan, in Oklahoma. Hazel later moved to California and married Willie Johnson, the 2 families became one with Marvin being the youngest of seven now. Marvin attended Poly and San Fernando High Schools where he was a running back on the varsity football teams. During his first year in high school, Marvin met and fell in love with Sharon Mullins, they dated 6 years and were married March 28, 1981 in a double ceremony with her sister and his brother, this year they all celebrated 30 years of marriage. From this union came a son and a daughter who were the joy of his life. Marvin stepped up to the plate and took full care of them at night while Sharon worked swing shift for 3 years, this created a special bond between father and child that has been evident throughout time. As they grew up and married wonderful mates, Marvin got to experience another joy of having 3 grandsons, one who preceded him in death, a grand daughter, and another grandson on the way who will carry on his name.
Marvin worked in Aerospace at ITT Gilfillan for 18 years before being struck with an illness which caused him to retire early on disability. In spite of the disability and multiple medical problems, Marvin lived a full and happy life, doing many things that even the healthy don’t get to do. Marvin was active in church from a very young age. He gave his life to the Lord in 1981 and was an usher and assisted with sound system set-up for several years, even when his health prevented him from attending church, he remained strong in the word all the way through. Marvin always had such a sweet spirit, always wanting to help others, always giving of himself and his goods. Marvin will truly be missed by many.
