Marvin Lee Tinder was born on Oct.12, 1935, in Kingsfisher, OK. and passed away from a heart attack on July 20, 2012, in Lancaster Ca. Marvin was the son of Harry Lee and Adelaide Tinder (deceased). He has lived in the Antelope Valley off and on since 1940. He attended Del Sur Elementary School and graduated from Antelope Valley High in 1953. Marvin started his working career with local crop dusters, selling cars at Starken Chevrolet, Insurance Sales, the Entertainment Field that took him to Nashville for a short time, becoming a Hair Dresser and operated several beauty salons in Riverside County, and then continued to work for various salons until he finally found the job he was meant to have, a Campus Security Guard (aka "Baretta") for AVUHSD. Starting at his alma mater AVHS, followed with becoming Director of Campus Security at QHHS and LHS. "Baretta" loved the students and always wanted to be there for them. Marv retired from AVUHSD in 2003. Marvin shared the past 30 years of his life with his loving wife, Donna (Edwards) who is also a long-time valley resident. Together they enjoyed their ever increasing extended family, hosting many family celebrations in their always welcoming home. And in more recent years, taking trips in their RV and in particular, spending summers in Utah. Marvin is survived by his wife Donna, mother in law Vivian aka Granny and his cherished children: Guy, Traci (Dave), Shannon , Chance (Janet), Lindy (Greg) and Bert aka Larry (Kelly). His grandchildren Eric (Paula), Jason Jordan, Max and Rocky, Danielle, Westin, Chandler, Noel (Phil), Nick (Jennifer), Lakin (Fiance Chad), Logan (Mary), Joseph, Denay, Devon,Taylor, Cory, Kyle and Jaffray. Great Grand-children: Taylor, Avery and Seth. His sister Beverly, nieces Holly and Misty. We consider ours not just a blended family, but one grand family. We've all been together over 30 years though strife and joy, celebration and sorrow. We love and share equally - there is no "step: in our family, only family." Next to family Marv's greatest accomplishment was achieving his 29th birthday in AA where he was active until his death. He touched so many lives and without AA his life would have been totally different. We all love you Marv and will miss you forever. There will be a celebration of his life on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary followed by a graveside service..
