Raymond De Shane Jr.

Raymond De Shane Jr, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2018. Surrounded by his family and friends, Ray passed peacefully at AV Hospital in Lancaster, CA. He was born November 7, 1948, in Bakersfield, CA. After High School, he attended Bakersfield Jr. College. Ray received a full ride football scholarship to U.N.L.V. and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in teaching. In 1975 Ray taught and coached football at Paraclete H.S. where he met the love of his life Sharon Thompson. The two wed in 1977 and had 5 kids together. Ray finished his education achieving a Masters Degree at Azuza Pacific University, as he continued to teach and coach football. As a family, they loved to travel, and live and breathe football. Ray was a legend of a man both on and off the football field. He loved the LORD his God and set an example to everyone that crossed his path. He touched many lives. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters: Jennifer (Noah) Snodgrass, Melissa (Brian) Gorrindo, Kristen (Seth) Helton and Laura. 5 grandkids: Dahlia (9), Anthony (11), Sophia (9), Thomas (8), and Kayla (5). His brother: Mike (Brenda) De Shane, Uncle: James Pitts, and many other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother: Mildred Wilkerson, son: (at birth)

Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Ray are invited to The Desert Vineyard Church, 1011 East Ave I, Lancaster, CA. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00am, to remember Ray, love and support each other. We ask that guests wear football memorabilia to cerebrate Ray’s life. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to the Ray De Shane Scholarship Fund at Paraclete H.S.
