Rhoda Irene McCartin

Rhoda Irene McCartin, from North Edwards, California, born October 31, 1929, in Alberton, Maryland, passed away on June 1, 2022, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Tim Parsley in Walker Basin, California.

Rhoda was the youngest of 13 children and the last surviving of her siblings. She was 92 years young. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The bigger the family gathering, the happier she was. She was a housewife all her life, with the exception of working at High’s Ice Cream in Maryland to save money so they could move out west and a 6-month job at Pic N’ Save in Lancaster. She loved crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, home-cooking, making her famous chocolate pies and chocolate chip cookies and reading the Bible.

She is survived by her sons, George and Creighton and their wives; her daughters, JoAnn and Wanda and their husbands; daughter-in-law, Janet and 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth; youngest son, Thomas and great-granddaughter, Emmalynn.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022 at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
