

On October 18, 2013 Shirley Anne Bennett a resident of Lancaster California passed from this life after a fierce year long battle with cancer. Growing up in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. Shirley had a joyful spirit that found early expression in her years as a captain of the Stroudsburg High School varsity cheerleading squad. During the economic downturn of the late 70's, she gave up her senior year to join her parents on an exciting new adventure in California. Shirley took the West Coast by storm. Her life trajectory lead her to a career in accounting beginning with a travel agency,eventually traveling world -wide managing inventory control for a building material firm. It was during this time she met the love of her life, a young graphics designer named Dean Bennett, who would become her husband and life-long companion. She was her mother's namesake and possessed all of her finest qualities. Shirley was a straight shooter who had an uncanny sense for the true nature of things. She was a member of the jury for a capital murder trial that gained national attention,taking great pride in assuring the young victim finally received the justice she was long due. She had an infectious laugh and playful demeanor that guaranteed every minute with 'Shirl' would be an occasion to remember. Her family and friends will miss her indomitable spirit,piercing wit and enduring love. Shirley Anne was pre-deceased by her mother, Shirley, and brother, Craig. She leaves behind her loving husband, Dean, her father ,Richard, her siblings Richard(Bonnie), Todd (Elaine), Eric (Connie), Kim, and Kathleen Bartron(George); nieces and nephews Chris ( Renee), Dylan Taylor(Andrea), Corrina (James), Jennifer, Travis, Drew, Alyssa, Zane, Heather,Spencer, Chloe, Hannah and Megan.
