Obituary for Anthony Joseph Bennett May 13, 1943 – September 4, 2025
It is with love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Joseph Bennett, who died peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on May 13, 1943, Anthony lived a life defined by quiet strength, loyalty, and a deep commitment to his family. He was a man of principle who believed in hard work, treating others with respect, and making the most of life’s journey.
While serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in the Philippines, Anthony met Aida Lorenzo, the woman who would become the love of his life. What started as a casual introduction turned into a beautiful, lifelong partnership. They married March 7, 1965, and built a life filled with love, shared values, and lasting memories. During Aida’s five-year battle with cancer, Anthony remained by her side with unwavering care and devotion until her passing on April 16th , 2009. He carried her memory with him every day since.
Anthony was also preceded in death by his son, James Bennett, who passed June 17th 2007. He is survived by his three children: Jacqueline Bennett, Danielle Bennett, and Michael Bennett.
Anthony shared a close and loving bond with his daughter, Gina Conte. One of their favorite pastimes together was engaging in highly competitive games of UpWords—matches that could stretch on for hours, filled with laughter, strategy, and playful rivalry. It was in those moments that his dry wit and quiet joy shone brightest.
He also found great happiness in being a grandfather to Devynn Conte and Garrison Conte, who brought him endless pride and joy. Whether offering support or simply enjoying time together, Anthony’s presence in their lives was steady, warm, and full of love.
Anthony had a lifelong passion for trains, a fascination that began in childhood and stayed with him throughout his life. He found joy in model trains, visiting historic railroads, and listening for the familiar sound of a distant whistle. His love of travel was just as strong—he believed in seeing the world, one road, rail, or flight at a time, always savoring the journey.
Anthony will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and his genuine interest in the lives of others. One of his joys was meeting new people and spending hours sharing stories. He was the kind of person who made you feel seen, heard, and welcome.
He is survived by his daughter Gina and his 5 grandchildren as well as extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
A memorial service will be held on October 3rd, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Palm Memorial Park-Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131 with grave site service to follow. There will be a luncheon for friends and family afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, or the National Railway Historical Society—all causes close to Anthony’s heart.
May we raise a toast to Tony and remember him for the life he lived, the journeys he took, and the deep love he gave to those fortunate enough to know him.
