To the Reyes family, Last week I had an appointment at the VA and I was told that Dr. Reyes had died.  I was a patient of Doc for many years at the VA. When Doc transferred from the LaCanada location to the one at Northeast, I requested the same change even though it meant a longer trip for me. Two words described Doc and they were "Great Man." I always looked forward to my visits at the VA knowing I would see Doc again.  Two things Doc told me during my many years as his patient: 1)"Wade, you are going to die a healthy man", and 2)on my last visit with him before he retired, "Wade, you will light the candles on my 75th birthday cake". I will be 92 next month, and I am holding Doc to his "words of wisdom". I am sorry for your loss, but the "great man" will have many friends at his final destination.  Right now my plans are to light a candle on Oct. 15, 2018, in honor of the "great man." Love, Wade C. Burton (WWII veteran)

I met Dr.Reyes for the first time, when he came home to Aparri,Cagayan, for the wake and interment of his sister, who died of cancer.I had been close to the Reyes family in town then,esply to his late sister until his elder brother and his family moved out from Apsrri. My husband (Boy Pablo)and I invited Dr.Reyes and some friends for dinner in the house before he departed back to the States. In my short acquaintance with him .I found him nice to talk with...My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr. Reyes was my father in law and someone that I came to care about deeply.  I am deeply saddened for my husband's loss and know that he will never be the same.  I find some comfort knowing that we were present when he took his last breathpainlessly

To Bens' Family

Really sad to hear of Bens' passing.

I met Ben a few years ago in a café at Euston Station, London, England. I asked him if I could sit at the same table as him to drink my coffee (the café was packed !!!). He graciously said yes. We had a great chat for an hour or so and I knew then I was in the presence of a marvellous and caring person.  I will always remember his warmth and humour !!! And smiley face !!!

He had no hesitation, when I asked, if I could keep in contact, and he gave me his details there and then.

Alas I never got to visit him in Las Vegas, although we did keep in touch.

May All My Love go to Ben and his Family and Friends at this time.

I will never forget him.

To Bien's family, so sorry for your loss! It was shocking news and I just couldn't believe it. I remember the good old days when we played basketball at my house in the Philippines. Dr. Ben Reyes was our Team Leader at the old Northwest Clinic.  We would joke that the providers at that clinic will sing the "Philippine National Anthem" since most of us are Filipinos.  He was so professional, caring, and makes you feel at ease at the same time.  All his patients who I inherited after he left the clinic still misses him.  He is not only their physician, he is a friend.  He generously opened his home for Christmas gathering for the staff and is a great host.  He even came to my son's high school graduation party and surprisingly the first to arrive.  My last communication from him is a text where he said he is doing okay inspite of his illness.

I will truly miss him and will always remember his kindness, smile, and advise.

Leilanie and I are deeply saddened by the  untimely passing of a dear friend and classmate. Since we immigrated to the U.S., our friends' families have ,from time to time, got together during FEU reunions or mini-reunions especially when our families were young. I remember with fondness how our children visited and played with the Reyes's children- Joan, Butch, Mark and Matthew . Bien, as our group call him, is a respected caring and competent  physician and an excellent chess player with multiple arwards and trophies. He has an infectious, hearthy laughter and always fun to be with. We will cherish his friendship, our fun memories of him especially during our school days. His legacy of humor, wisdom and love of family will be long remembered. In your time of sorrow, may you find solace among caring and loving friends and relatives. When I was younger I still remember how we would all be at Titos old house celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and everybody enjoying each others company. I even remember those times everyone would come over to my parents' old house and Tito playing mahjong with my parents...  I will always cherish those beautiful memories of Tito. Life goes on but he will never be forgotten... I love you guys... You guys are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Dr. Reyes back in the Old NW PCC in Fire Mesa. He's one of the coolest, kindest and most intelligent provider that I know. May you RIP Doc.

I had the great privilege of working with Ben at the Northwest Clinic. He was my colleague and friend and, because he was so outstanding, I selected him to be my personal physician, a role he fulfilled in the usual exemplary manner he handled everything.  What a pleasure to have known this exceptional person, but for all too brief a period of time.  We were all very fortunate to have known him and will cherish memories of Ben always.

He was greatly missed by his patients upon retiring from VA where he was a beloved  colleague.  Every year Christmas he invited all clinic staff to his home.  He practiced the art of medicine and professionalism.  I will miss our talks of Butler U. basketball since we both shared Indianapolis in our past.  He was a man of good heart and faith, fighting a tough health battle.  May he RIP

Dr. Reyes was my buddy...He would joke with myself and co-workers at the Old Northwest FireMesa. He always knew how to put a smile on our faces. He was also a friend to me, when I needed his help he was always ready to assist me and vice versa . He will always be apart of my extended family and will truly be missed. To the Reyes family, I'm saddened to hear of your loss. I always remember Tito Bien telling us stories of his med school days with my Dad and Mom and the rest of the other med school families.   The reunions our families had when I was little were so incredibly fun. I remember when we were all pretty young and we were on your Dads boat in Indiana and we were playing our own kids version of billiards in the house before your family moved to California. And after you guys moved to LaJolla, I remember they called it "La Jolla" pronouncing the "J" and Joan and I would giggle as young girls.  My father told me once that in med school, Tito Bien would knock on doors to see who would join him in a beer when everyone was studying.  I will always fondly remember how gracious your Dad was when his house would be filled with several families in all the rooms when we would visit. He was a warm and kind soul. I'm sure he's enjoying in a better place. Cheers Tito Bien!

I am quite saddened to hear of your Dr Reyes passing.  I must say it was a great privilege to be able to help care for him.  I was always amazed at the strength and grace that he always displayed as he went through all of his treatments.  I truly believe that these characteristics helped him to do much better with his disease than I would have initially predicted.  I always remember his kind smile as he would never offer any complaints about the side effects of all of his treatment.

My deepest condolances for the loss of your loved one.  Working with Ben at the VA - he was always very approachable and very much a gentleman.  He truly cared for his patients. He will be sorely missed.

Hi I am Ophelia Diez, I worked very close with your father Dr. Reyes as his Clinic Administrator for several years at the East Primary Care Clinic and his last clinic he worked in Northwest Primary Care Clinic in Summerlin. Your father and I were classmates at FEU Institute of Medicine and both in the Class of 1970.

Your father is a dear friend. He was a  wonderful humanitarian who dedicated his life as a physician and a father and all his good work will always be remembered. I know that he is missed by his family and all of us who crossed paths with him in this life journey. 

My wife,Jad and I would like to express to all of  Bien's family, our deepest sympathy. We believe that our Heavenly Father has welcomed Bien to His Home, where one day we will all see him again. As Jesus said to his disciples,"I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."(John 14)

It seems like yesterday that Tito Ben was bringing Christmas gifts to me and my brothers and sisters when we were kids.  He always brought such great gifts for us.  The twins were toddlers and I use to harass my cousins Joan and Butch.  Time went by so fast and Tito Ben became an accomplished doctor and then we seemed to be too many miles apart.  Thank God that Tito Ben and my cousins got to visit recently before God called him home.  I'm so glad that my cousins have grown to be so beautiful and accomplished themselves.  I'm so glad that they are part of my family.  TIto Ben we miss you and love you and to my cousins, take care, God bless, and thanks for being such great family and friends.  Love, cousin Jerry
