Billie Lee Schofield

Billie Lee Schofield, beloved daughter, devoted mother, cherished grandma, loving aunt and life long friend, passed away March 4, 2025 at the eternal young age of 93. She was born on January 4, 1932 to William Wesley Galloway and Ruth Marie Johnson in Gillette, Wyoming. Billie Lee moved to her beloved Las Vegas when she was in 7th grade, making life long friends who blessed her life as though they were sisters. She went to 5th street grammar school then Las Vegas High School. There she was active in sorority, girls club and was the news editor of the “Desert Breeze" newspaper. Billie had a great life in high school and was extremely proud to be part of the Las Vegas High Class of 1950. Billie Lee married James “Jimmy” William Schofield, the love of her life, on October 13, 1951. They would share 42 years together building family memories, traveling, hosting BBQ’s and political parties at their home with friends and family. After retiring from being a judicial secretary in 1987, Billie opened a dress shop “Billie’s of Las Vegas.” It was an instant hit! Dressing nice was a must! Right up to the end, she dressed with style and grace. Her motto was, "Know where you want to go in life and dress like you're already there!" Billie Lee was so proud of her two sons and their families, bringing immeasurable joy to her life! She took time to nurture a special bond with each grandchild and was so proud of them and rejoiced in her great and great, great grandkids as well. She felt a part of their lives and was interested in each one. She was their biggest cheerleader! Billie would say the secret to life started with a stick of butter and, she lived up to that truth! Maybe this was her secret to longevity. Applying this to life, she would want us to be firm yet soft, share a little, never skimp, have a lot on hand, appreciate the giver and enjoy every bite!

Billie Lee was proceeded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” W. Schofield and her parents, Ruth M. Johnson Galloway, and William W. Galloway. She is survived by her two sons Mark (Melony), Rick (Judi) Grandkids: Shawn, Stephanie, Skylar, Shavonne, Dustin, Brady and Alexis, 22 great and 5 great, great grandkids.

A funeral service for Billie Lee will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery, 1325 N Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
