During Camille’s early childhood years she lived with her Maternal Grandmother and an Aunt on their farm in Indiana. When they moved, she went to live with her Paternal Grandparents as well as part of the time with a close friend of her mothers. No matter where she stayed, Camille was always provided a lot of love and care. Her parents eventually divorced when she was eight and her mother remarried to Henry Drake two years later. At the age of thirteen, her brother Tommy was born and Camille was so glad to have a baby brother that she spoiled him right along with her parents. Tommy preceded her in death in 2008.
Camille attended Lindbloom High School and graduated in 1955. After high school, she was accepted to Michael Reese School of Nursing and graduated in 1959. She went on to work at Michael Reese Hospital for a few years and then the Visiting Nurse Association. She took a few years off to raise her children and then went on to become the school nurse for The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools until 1990 when she moved to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas she worked for PRN Home Health Agency and fully retired in 2010.
In 1963 she married Robert Darwin Daniels. To this union, their son Robert (“Robbie”) was born and then their daughter Jennifer was born just after Robert’s unexpected passing in 1972. In 1977, Camille married her second husband Donald Dotts (deceased). Donald had four children from his previous marriage, Michael (deceased), Donna, Steven and Charlene (deceased).
Camille accepted Christ at an early age and remained a devoted and active member throughout her life. She was a member of Maple Park United Methodist Church in Chicago and upon moving to Las Vegas became a member of Holy Trinity AME Church where she was a member of the Usher board for a time until her passing.
Camille had a number of hobbies and enjoyed card playing the most. She was a member of many social clubs and leagues (Bridge Club, Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary, Bowling League, Poker, and Book Club). She had a very entrepreneurial spirit and participated in many at-home business endeavors (Amway, Avon, Magnets and Mary Kay). Camille was very social, she participated in a number of networking events and had many friends that enjoyed her free and fun loving spirit. She loved her friends like family and will be missed by many.
Camille began her eternal life on December 18th, 2021 with her children and grandchildren by her side. She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Robert (Lisa) and Jennifer; her grandchildren, Tiffany and Simone; a nephew, Tommy Drake; and a great many family and friends.
