Carol was born to Georgia Mae Slaughter and Morris Bosley on August 11, 1949 in Berkeley, California.
Carol spent the first 12 years of her childhood growing up in Berkeley and Oakland, California before her
family moved to Compton, California. Carol attended Compton High School.
During her teenage years Carol worked in her Uncle Jay Dixon’s record store, this is where her love of
music began. You could always tell what mood she was in based on the music she was listening to. When
a song that she loved would start to play she would raise her hand in the air snap her fingers and say
“that’s my song baby” or she would name the singer, like, that’s “Al Green baby”! She absolutely loved to
dance especially the bump and to cha cha.
Carol loved every member of her family and friends and she was never shy in telling any of them what
they were doing right and to point out what they were doing wrong. Carol loved celebrating holidays and
her children’s birthdays. Carol took pride and loved cooking soul food for the holiday’s; she was famous
for her cakes and pies and would make sure to make each of her children’s favorites, so they felt very
special for their birthdays.
Carol was married twice, first to Levi Isadore Harold and from that union was born her first son Kenneth
LaMont Harold. Carol’s second marriage was to Calvin James Sr. and from that union were born her
second son Duron TreVell James Sr. and her daughter Lenita Denise James Campbell. Carol was
stepmother to Michelle James and Jason James.
Carol obtained her secretarial certification from trade school in Compton, California. Carol attended
Cerritos City College’s real estate program and became a real estate agent and Notary Public. She
attended the Worship center Community Church where she was active in the Senior Citizen group called
Jubilee and choir. Carol loved “Get togethers” with family and friends playing table games such as
Dominos, Spades, but especially Bid Whist where she would often love running Boston’s and letting you
know about it.
Carol is preceded in death by her brother Hilton Wayne Slaughter, her sister Jenise Marie Slaughter and
niece Chakhan Washington.
Carol is survived by her children Kenneth LaMont Harold (Louis Gauthier), Hollywood, CA: Duron
