

Carolyn Jean Sims Paige was born in Topeka, KS to Mack Ray and Sarah Frances Sims and was the second of their seven children. She attended elementary schools in Germany, California, and Texas before her family settled in Las Vegas, NV in the mid-1960s. Carolyn was an avid reader, an exceptional student, and enjoyed attending school sporting events. As a teenager, she was a member of Girl Scouts of the USA, and took etiquette and modeling classes and had a natural talent for fashion and design. While in high school, she developed an enduring work ethic, working part time after school and during the summers. Carolyn graduated with distinction from Rancho High School and soon after moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the garment industry. She received an associate degree in fashion design and merchandising from Woodbury University. Carolyn had a long and successful career working at Apparel Ventures, Inc., first, working as an assistant to the vice president of sales and marketing and within a few years becoming manager of their national shipping and distribution departments. She became an expert in exporting and importing clothing from around the world. Through immersive learning, she became fluent in Spanish to communicate easily with the hundreds of Spanish-speaking employees she managed. For close to 20 years, Carolyn was a beloved Apparel Ventures employee, co-worker, and manager.
On October 25, 1997, Carolyn married Eric L. Paige, the love of her life and best friend of 26 years. They raised four sons: Jeffrey Sims, Tevin Paige, Eric A. Paige, and Alvin Paige and always had a very welcoming home. Carolyn and her family moved back to Las Vegas in 2001 and she began another successful career for over 20 years as a credit and collections manager for Republic Services. She was known as a diligent manager and a joyful and faithful colleague who easily befriended everyone she encountered. Over the years, Carolyn enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, short cruises, trips to seasonal jazz festivals,and making beaded bracelets as gifts.Carolyn was an extremely generous and thoughtful person. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and simply cherished being a grandmother, known both as Abuela and grandma to her grandkids.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents Mack and Sarah Sims and her brothers Louis Sims and James Sims. Carolyn is survived by her husband Eric L. Paige; children Jeffrey Sims, Tevin Paige, Eric A. (Gabriela) Paige, and Alvin Paige; her grandchildren Katrell Cloud-Mixon, Layla Sims, Serenity Paige, Eric J. Paige, and Mariyah Sims; her siblings Marjorie Sims, Mack Sims, Jr., Gilbert Sims, and Laurie (Skipper) Kelp; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Carolyn will be remembered for her unyielding strength, infectious laughter, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for those in her life. She leaves a rich and vibrant legacy in her family and friends, and her gifts as an organ donor have enriched the lives of others and their families. Carolyn will be forever missed and loved by her family and friends.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 6, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery, 1325 N Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
