

Celia Mooney, 66, of Las Vegas, passed away quietly and peacefully in the early morning hours of Nov. 9, 2010, due to a stroke. She was born May 11, 1944, in LaFeria, Texas, and was a four-year resident of Nevada. Celia proudly served in the U.S. Army Women's Corps (WAC) for eight years during the Vietnam War. She retired after 12 years as a clerk for the U.S. Commerce Department. Celia and her husband, Bernie retired to Las Vegas in late 2006. Celia is survived by her husband, Bernard F. Mooney; sons, Scott P. Mooney and Sean C. Mooney, both of Arlington, Va.; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Galifianakis; and granddaughter, Alexandra Pelagia Mooney, both of Arlington. Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. As per Celia's ardent wishes, she will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery and will be within five minutes of her other sources of pride in her life - her son, Scott and his fine family and son, Sean.
