Charlie’s air traffic control career began in the United States Air Force in 1964. After his discharge from the Air Force he began his Federal Aviation Administration career in his home state of Ohio where he met and married his wife Elida (Toby) Hall in 1970.
In 1976, Charlie moved to California where he held many air traffic control and management positions in facilities located in the Oakland, Palo Alto, Fremont, San Francisco, and San Diego areas. Two individuals helped establish the foundation of his leadership, Mr. Marion C. Davis and Mr. John F. O'Leary III.
In 1990, Charlie relocated to Washington D.C and became the manager of Air Traffic's Central Flow Control Facility, better known as CF Squared. Mr. Hall, in collaboration with Mr. David J. Hurley, was instrumental in relocating the Central Flow facility into the EDS building in Herndon, VA, and developing it into the Air Traffic Control System Command Center. That facility played a primary role in the safety of the United States in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
In 1994, Mr. Hall relocated to Las Vegas, NV as HUB Manager of the Tower and TRACON at McCarran International Airport, along with North Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, High Desert and Palm Springs air traffic control facilities.
In 1997, Charlie retired from the FAA and joined American Airlines as their Director of Air Traffic Systems and was their liaison with other service providers in both Europe and Asia for about 10 years.
In 2006, Mr. Hall joined the Clark County Department of Aviation Planning Division as their Program Administrator for airspace issues providing airspace planning and design. He retired from that position in 2020.
In addition to holding a private pilot's license, Mr. Hall has been a major contributor to many air traffic and airspace programs and has received many accolades over his distinguished career. He is considered a true visionary in the field of aviation.
He was a long time member of “Raider Nation” and passed peaceful on the night of their first fully fan attended game on August 14, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elida, and cousin and wife Alvin P. and Maryemma Hall (Elida’s sister), and countless friends, family, and colleagues.
In the immortal words of his beloved Raiders, Just Win Baby!
