"Chris" Chester Marek

Chester V. "Chris" Marek, age 91, of Las Vegas. Some people just shine a little brighter in this world and make life better for everyone around them. This was Chris! He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at a Las Vegas Hospice. He was born June 1, 1923 in Chicago, graduated from Thornton Township High School and has been a Las Vegas resident for more than 27 years. He was a retired electrical engineer for several telephone companies. Mr. Marek was an usher at Christ the King Catholic Community and a member of the Board of Directors for Senior Tripsters. He was a member of the Moose Lodge both in Chicago and in Las Vegas and shared his passion for ballroom dancing with his wife, Lorraine. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Marek and sisters Pauline and Diane. Survivors include his children Ron Raschke and Jackie (Steve) Quigley; brothers Gabriel, Vincent (Mary) and Marty Marek, sister Carole (Harry) Koustik and brother-in-law Kenneth Bochat. All services will be held in Chicago. Contributions in Chris' name may be made to the charity of your choice. Palm Mortuary, South Jones Chapel is handling arrangements.
