Christie T. McBrien, age 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of Chicago, passed away Jan. 28, 2011. He was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Co. Sligo, Ireland, to the late Thomas and Catherine (nee Durkin). He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (nee Montgomery); son, Thomas (Eileen); daughters, Catherine (Roman) Nota and Maureen (Kevin) O'Toole. Loving grandfather to Sean, Thomas, Colleen, Kevin, Caitlin McBrien, Valerie, Heather, Amanda, Adam Nota, Kelly, Erin, Ryan and the late Shannon O'Toole. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Michael. He came to the United States in 1947, served in the U.S. Army and became a U.S. citizen in 1954. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Palm Mortuary-Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. A memorial service will also be held in Chicago this summer, details will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society .
