Clyde was reared in Darnell, Louisiana, attended Magnolia Elementary School and later graduated from Magnolia High School. After graduating high school, Clyde moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where he worked in his uncle’s grocery store, later moving back to Louisiana. Clyde loved attending church, and confessed to Christ while living in Louisiana. His first church affiliation was at Mount Lebanon in Darnell, Louisiana. In addition to being a member he also served as a Sunday School Teacher until he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon moving to Las Vegas, Nevada Clyde joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, later becoming a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and then joining New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, attending regularly until his health began to fail and he could no longer attend, however he remained a member until death.
Clyde met and married the love of his life, Elois (Dell) Wasson December 20, 1965 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana.
Clyde and Elois moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1966, where Clyde began his first employment in Las Vegas at Stardust Hotel as a Casino Porter. For the next ten years, Clyde began the next phase of his employment at the Nevada Test Site. Clyde still not satisfied with his career choices, so he sought a new position and was hired as a bellman at MGM Hotel & Casino which later became Bally’s Hotel & Casino. Clyde retired from Bally’s Hotel & Casino after thirty eight and a half years. Number 50 was his employee number and did he ever enjoy that job, meeting and talking to people from all over the world! He would tell stories to anyone that would listen for as long as one would listen! Anyone that knew Clyde knows he loved to talk and he never met a stranger, no matter where he went!
Clyde loved Dell, his children and the rest of his family. He was a hard worker and provided the best for his family. He loved good food, beautiful clothes, sitting on the patio and gardening. Taking care of his lawn was one of his favorite pastimes. Clyde’s pride and joy were the beautiful roses that he planted in the front and back yards that seemed to be more beautiful each year. Clyde would manicure his lawn, then sit on the patio to admire his beautiful garden of flowers, fruit trees, and other shrubs. No one could care for his lawn the way he could, even though he was overseeing the work being done. Clyde also spent countless hours reading newspapers, doing crossword puzzles, watching Family Feud, Cheaters, and MSNBC. He would get in trouble with Dell for having the television too loud, talking back to the television programs and laughing hectically at whatever television show he was watching while Dell was trying to watch her favorite show.
Each summer Clyde looked forward to taking family vacation; going to family reunions, school reunions, visiting families members or wherever the vacation plans were for that year. He loved and enjoyed talking and reuniting with family and friends, especially his high school classmates. Almost yearly his dear friend and schoolmate Susie would come to visit him and that meant the world to Clyde. He also extremely enjoyed Earl visiting whenever he could. They would talk and talk past and present events. He and his special cousin Geneva Garrett, whom he could never, ever stop harassing, talked for hours about any and everything; in addition to making sure he kept his childhood promise to keep her in line when she was a girl!
Clyde lived a full and exciting eighty seven years, nine months and twenty five days! Clyde passed peacefully on August 8, 2023 at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife and other family members surrounding him with love.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also. - John 14:1-3
