March 22, 1949 – July 8, 2025
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Darlene Janice Cahoon, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on July 8, 2025. Born on March 22, 1949, in Pennsylvania to Norris and Janet Boyer, Darlene brought warmth, kindness, and a radiant smile to everyone blessed to know her.
Darlene lived a life overflowing with love—for her husband, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and most of all, for the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ was central to her life, and she was a proud and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She cherished her ward family, found joy in teaching Gospel Essentials, and served with compassion and grace. Darlene also extended her love for community through her involvement in the local Chamber of Commerce.
Those who knew Darlene knew her joy in the simple pleasures of life: a good meal, warm company, and meaningful conversation. She was an exceptional cook, well-known for her Texas sheet cake and delicious meatballs. Italian food was her favorite and Darlene loved trying new restaurants and cuisines, always ready for the next culinary adventure with family or friends.
Music brought her joy—especially the sounds of the '60s and '70s, along with contemporary favorites. She also had a deep love for travel which she combined with her deep love for family, visiting them in Ohio, Florida, Utah, Washington State, Arizona and New Mexico. Wherever her loved ones were and whatever they were involved in, Darlene’s heart and car followed.
In 2014, Darlene married the love of her life, Steven Cahoon. Their marriage was sealed for eternity in 2017. From the beginning, she welcomed Steve's children and their spouses as her own, never making distinctions between "step" and "family"—because to Darlene, love was never divided, only multiplied.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Janet Boyer; her brothers, Norris "Buster" and Michael Boyer; and her daughter, Amy Cahoon.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Cahoon; her children: Michael (Amy) Niles, Cary (Susan) Cahoon, Cami Cahoon, Darin (Allison) Cahoon, Scott Cahoon, Lauri (Brian) Ohl, and Marty (Angie) Niles; her grandchildren: Kyle (Brie’el) Cahoon, Alex (Maria) Fabiano, Tyler (Hannah) Cahoon, Collin (Bailey) Fabiano, Trevor (Jessica) Cahoon, Peyton Williams, Camille Fabiano, Austin Cahoon, Erica Niles, Cade Cahoon, Broden Cahoon, Luna Niles, Canton Cahoon, Aila Niles, Oliver Ohl, and Aria Niles; her great-grandchildren: Hadley Cahoon, Eva Fabiano, Vincent Fabiano, Blake Cahoon, Emilia Fabiano and Callan Cahoon.
She is also survived by her brother, Donald Boyer, and her sister, Carol Boyer, along with dear friends who will miss her presence dearly.
A visitation in honor of Darlene will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 7401 Smoke Ranch Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89128.
A funeral service will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
A committal service will be held from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
