

He was born on March 22, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, son to the late Floye and William Cowper.
He attended Redford High School in Detroit, Michigan and Fullerton Community College in Fullerton, California.
Dennis was a US Veteran. He served as a Platoon Sergeant in the US Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California.
He was a truly dedicated family man and resided with his family for almost 40 years in Corona, California working as a machinist and maintenance man before retiring and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the late 1960's and 70's he could be found talking guns and history at Joe Bridge's Trading Post on Sixth street in Corona and was instrumental in starting the Corona Rod and Gun Club where he taught his children to shoot at an early age. The very first meeting of the club was held in the garage of his home in Corona, California.
As a true U.S. military historian, he loved to both study and reenact early American history spending several years riding with the 1880's period E Troop U.S Cavalry Reenactment Group.
His love of riding also extended into performing mounted extra work for both movie and television where he rode as an extra in several productions including "Back to the Future III", "Far and Away', "Rambo III", "The Wild Wild West" movie and the "Young Guns" television series.
He is proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marcy Cowper.
Dennis is survived by his sister Sharon Logan, his brother William J. Cowper, his three children, sons Dennis M. Cowper and his wife Carmen, Scott Cowper and his wife Mary, and his daughter Debra Moser-Taylor and her husband Jeff Taylor, his two grandsons, Kye Moser and his wife Crystal, and Joseph Cowper and his wife Jordan, and his two great grandchildren, Ethan and Emmett Moser.
His viewing and visitation will be held on January 27, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. and his funeral memorial will be on January 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. both at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada. A USMC Honor Guard Ceremony will be performed at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on January 28, 2022 at 12 p.m. followed by his burial.
