The day is dawn, the sun has set
and before the sun rises I will leave these tears on this page without one regret.
A proud man...
An upstanding citizen..
A decorated veteran.
I'll miss the messages of you telling me how proud you are
You don't understand the meaning of those messages on my worse days even from afar.
Took on 4 kids and my Nanny couldn't have been an easy task
But you did it with all of the ups and downs without even being asked.
Coming from a small town in Carolina ready to take on the world,
A black man willing to put his life on the line for a country who still didn't think he deserves.
Loved by many... hated by none.
We hate seeing you go but we knew this day would come.
"Look to the east for surely the sun will rise and light your way"
Besides "i love you" that was the last message I received and shall be reminded every day..
That as I look to the east and the sun will rise,
I know you and Nanny will be smiling back as guardian angels in God's sky.
