I want to personally thank each and everyone of you, for the outpouring messages, texts, phone calls, love, and support.  From family, friends, coworkers, and The Others Bike Club, I’m touched by all the stories I have heard about your time spent with Edward. Whether you were childhood friends, or just acquaintances, you all have nothing but love for him.  Thank you for bringing out that smile of his! I have never seen so many pictures of my husband smiling! It warms my heart. That just shows how much each of you meant to him. 

A good friend of mine shared a quote with me that brought me some comfort. 

“When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind” 

Although Edward is not physically here with us, I know he is always here with us spiritually. I feel his love more than ever with each of you. 

He is truly blessed to have you all a part of his journey in life.  Let’s Celebrate the Life of Edward, today and everyday, and carry on his message the way he showed us .... One Love!

~A letter to my husband~
My Dearest Ed, 

 Words can not explain the feeling I have when I go to bed and wake up each day and youre not there.  Words are not enough to tell you how much I love and miss you each minute of my day. But when I look at our kids, I see a part of you in each of them.  When Aaliyah laughs, I hear you. When Jay wears a hat or The Others shirt I get a glimpse of you. When Jah smiles, it’s not often, just like you it brightens the room. Mish’s writing, I mistakenly think it’s yours.  You are still here with me through each of them.

 We don’t know what our tomorrow looks like without you. But what we do know is that you are now resting easy up in heaven  and our love for each other is stronger then ever.   

I got the kids Ed, and I know you got us from up there.   As you constantly remind us.... don’t worry about a thing, cuz every little thing is gonna be alright.... 




My condolences to Anna and all of Ed’s family. I’m Jake Gordon and have known Ed since I was 15 years old way back in the day. There are so many memories that I’ve shared with Ed and one of the longest lasting impressions that still stays with me until this day is Ed’s ability as a community builder. It was powerful to see so many of us yesterday who all came out to see Ed one last time. People that I haven’t seen in 20 years taking time out of their busy lives to spend our day with Ed. 

I looked up to Ed as a 15 year old as that cool older guy that I wanted to be like when I was older. His taste in music, fashion, and overall charisma was magnetic without saying much. Truly ahead of his time, especially with his musical taste. A lot of what I stand for and do in Los Angeles has direct connections to the lessons I received while being in Ed’s presence as a kid. The social justice orientated messages of Bob Marley, X-Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers, and many more resonated with me as a young teenager and still carry on with me today. 

My work with disenfranchised communities of color in LA and my commitment to the “1 Love” spirit that Ed always carried, lives in my every day work. Without those early teachings from Ed about community and the solidarity that our Filipino community has with other communities of color, my success as an Executive Director of a Charter High School today for at at risk students wouldn’t be possible. I’m able to lead and coach teachers, school leaders, and community development teams through the lessons of “1 Love” and solidarity work that I learned from Ed.

Your comrades in the Others Bike club and your leadership there, is further testimony of your ability to build community. Everyone came out from the Others bike community to pay their respect for one of our fallen kings.

We will all miss you very much Ed, please say hello to my mom for me. Thank you for all the big brother lessons you gave me. I miss you and love you✊🏾

I truly wish I was able to get to know and spend more time with you, but I just wanted to express how grateful I am that I was even granted the opportunity to have met you. 

Through Jaycob and the rest of your family, I know how amazing you really are. Hearing stories and memories of you, along with seeing photos, videos, and the appearances of all your loved ones, made me realize how blessed I am to have simply been in your presence. I apologize for not being able to do much now, but I promise I will be here for your family in any way that I can. 

Thank you, Uncle Ed, for the impact you have made on my life. You remind me that life is precious and to live it to the fullest. You continue to motivate me to never give up. You are an inspiration to so many and you will never be forgotten. God Bless. ❤️
