

Elnoria Lee Hawkins accepted her place with the Heavenly Host on Friday March 11, 2016. God saw the road was getting rough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered “Peace be Thine.” We are here today in loving memory of Mrs. Elnoria Lee Hawkins born to the late Andrew and Savannah Shelby in Morton, Mississippi on February 27, 1942. Elnoria accepted Christ at an early age she was a member of Christian Banner United Methodist Church in Morton, Mississippi and New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Donnell Horn. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1950’s and married Oliver Lee. She has one daughter Sammia Marquez. She later married Isaac Hawkins whom she was married to until his death. After moving to Las Vegas she began working in gaming industry at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino until retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Savanna Shelby; four sisters Willie Pearl Stingley, Annie Pearl Terry, Lena Mae Shelby, Mary E. Younger; four brothers Leroy Shelby, Harvey Shelby, Joe Shelby, and James Shelby; and a special sister-in-law Laura Shelby Grubbs. Elnoria leaves to celebrate her home going celebration her daughter Sammia Marquez(Alberto) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers Eddie Shelby of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charlie J. Shelby (Aretha) of Morton Mississippi; three grandchildren Selitha Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada; Don Marquez of Nashville, Tennessee; Arturo Marquez of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special sister in-law Ernestine Shelby and a very special cousin Ruby Jean Davis who was there until she was called home. Elnoria was a devoted family woman and shepherd keeper of family opening her home to any and all whenever needed very generous, fun, and loving person who loved life. She was passionate about caring for others with a smile that would light up the sky and a heart that would warm a room. So when you see the sun piercing through the clouds on a gloomy day know that she is smiling down on us all she will be dearly missed.
