Marc was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 12, 1943 to Edward Sr. and Ella (Gambrill) Kennedy. He attended Baltimore Public Schools and after graduation entered the United States Air Force in December 1960, where he served in the Vietnam War. His military career as Staff Sergeant ended after 8 years and 2 months of service.
Marc married Jo Cockrum of Iowa Park, Texas on September 24, 1988. That was the beginning of two who became one for the next 37 years. He was a husband, a brother, a godfather, an uncle, a friend and encourager to many people throughout his life. His intellect, charming personality, catching smile and his refined, well-groomed style served him well as those genuine attributes opened many doors for Marc both professionally and personally. Once he was in, those doors never closed because what was seen and what was heard from Marc were the true root of who he was.
Marc’s motto in life was “never burn bridges.” He was always mindful of his presentations, reactions, and how he spoke to others. He collected his thoughts before he spoke, and he always confidently shared kind and encouraging words with others. Marc never opened a door that he wasn’t welcomed back into.
He endured 23 years of various physical issues and treatments including a kidney transplant, dialysis, heart disease, pacemaker, and kidney failure; and through it all, Marc, a child of God, never complained.
Marc is survived by his devoted wife Jo, his sister Mildred Kennedy-Thompson, his niece Kimberly T. Cabell, and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents and brothers Edward Kennedy Jr., Thomas Kennedy and Leroy Kennedy.
A memorial service for Marc will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at1:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, followed by a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
