(Renier Escolin, Ryan Escolin, Naiomi Velasco, Ramon Velasco III, Easton Velasco, Adelyn Velasco and Reilly Benson).
Born on August 29, 1939, in Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines, Evangelina was the third of seven children to the late Francisco Mendoza and Consuelo Natividad. She grew up in Laloma, Quezon City, surrounded by family and faith. After graduating from La Loma High School, she married the love of her life, Deogracias Velasco, on February 7, 1963, and together they built a life rooted in love and devotion. In 1974, they migrated to Detroit, Michigan, where she dedicated her life to caring for others—both through her work and her service in various religious and community groups.
Evangelina’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Sto. Niño of Detroit, Michigan. She worked for 16 years in Presbyterian village and retired in January 2002. Evangelina and Deo decided to move to Summerlin, Las Vegas in October 2002. Together they fulfilled their devotion to each other for 53 years. Shortly before the passing of her late husband Deo, she joined the St. Philomena Prayer Group in Las Vegas.
Her compassion extended to everyone she met—her warmth, humor, and kindness touched countless lives.
Known affectionately as “Vangie or Mama Vangie ” she found joy in cooking, baking, sewing, praying, and Zumba dancing. Her laughter filled every room, and her selfless spirit inspired everyone around her. Evangelina’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
