Frances Spendlove, age 86 died Friday, February 28, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born April 8, 1938 in St. George, UT, to Hyrum Hunt Cox and Nellie J Iverson Cox. On November 15, 1956, she married her sweetheart, Eugene Spendlove. They were sealed one year later in the St. George Temple. They were married for 61 years before his passing.
Frances grew up in St. George, UT, where she helped with farm chores, household chores, and little brothers and sisters. She graduated from Dixie High School in 1956.
Frances had many interests. She loved her ancestors and spent much time researching family history and telling their stories. She made many beautiful quilts that are treasured by family and friends. She bottled much of her own food. She was a phenomenal seamstress and made both of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She spent much time serving her fellow man. She enjoyed writing poems, stories, and songs. She also fulfilled many church callings. She enjoyed sharing the gospel and served two missions with her eternal sweetheart. Her greatest accomplishment was her children, which she worked hard to ensure all of their needs were met. She also enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.
Survivors include sons Eugene (Julianne), David (Pamela), Lorin, and daughters LaResa and Melissa (Ben) LeBaron, all of Las Vegas, NV, and daughters in law Julia, of Hurricane, UT and Janet of Las Vegas, NV, 36 favorite grandchildren, 43 favorite great grandchildren, with one more great grandchild on the way, her brother, Wayne (Kathy) Cox and sister Jeanelle (Jim) Averett of St. George, and sister Rosemary (Robert) Cummings of Las Vegas. She was predeceased by her husband Gene (Joe), her son Kelvin, two grandsons Logan and Benjamin, her parents, and one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel located at 2295 N. Walnut Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89115. Prior to the funeral, a family viewing will be held at 8:30 and a public viewing at 9:30. Interment will follow at 1 P.M. at Palm Northwest Cemetery.
