Francis Thomas Colella Sr.

Francis “Frank” Thomas Colella, Sr. passed away peacefully on February 13, 2018 at the age of 75. He was born on September 6, 1942 in Lynn, Massachusetts and had been a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 30 years. He proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force. Frank was a devoted husband to his wife, Rita for 56 years. They were not only husband and wife, but they were best friends and he loved treating her like a queen. He was also a patient father to his four children and several grand and great-grandchildren. Frank especially loved being at home with his family watching old movies or his favorite sports teams: the Boston Red Sox baseball team, the New England Patriots football team and the Boston Bruins hockey team. Frank was known for walking 2 miles every day and making a mean bowl of cereal. In addition, he read continuously, he completed crossword puzzles, and assembled 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles which later became framed artwork in their home. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Texas, California and Massachusetts. Frank was employed by Bally’s Gaming for 50 years in various positions and he was an active member of the Teamsters. Frank’s Million Dollar smile will be missed by his family and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mabel Colella; brother and sister-in-law, Salvotore (Nora) Colella; sister and brother-in-law, Laura (Nicklos) Pramataris; and grandson, Zachary Ramirez. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Colella; four supportive children, Francis Colella, Jr. (Theresa); Lori Colella, John Colella and Dawn Ramirez; 14 grandchildren, Jamie Torres (Joel), Frank Colella, Michael Galik (Tara), Anthony Ramirez, Nathan Colella, Gregg Alvarez, Ashley Gonzales, Joshua Alvarez, Corey Colella, Brandon Colella; Adam Ramirez, Ashley Ramirez, and Jakob Colella-Riley; 6 great – grandchildren; brother, John Colella (Cathie); two sisters, Jo Ann Knowles (John) and Linda Loving; and several extended family members.
