

FRANCIS E. LYNCH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis "Frank" E. Lynch, 92. He passed away peacefully March 22, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his family. Born June 17, 1924, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Francis and Cecilia (McGrath) Lynch, he was a resident of Las Vegas since 1981. During Frank's lifetime, he had two callings. His first was to serve the Catholic church. At age 14, he began his service in a Jesuit pre-seminary Novitiate in Niagara Falls, N.Y. After two years, he returned to Boston where he finished high school and graduated from Boston College High School. Upon completion of high school, he continued his Jesuit training by enrolling in the Shadowbrook Seminary S.J., where he remained for the next 10 years. In 1948, he took a sabbatical, due to illness and returned to Boston to recuperate with his family. While recovering, God had other plans for his life, he met and fell in love with his lifelong partner, Rosalie. After graduating from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass. June 14, 1950, his second calling soon began when he and Rosalie were married. Over the course of the next 66 years, Frank and Rosalie lived a wonderful life with their three children, his family was his universe. Shortly after Frank and Rosalie were married, he followed in his father's footsteps and began a long and distinguished career in law enforcement. His various positions included: Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Head of the Northwest Indiana Crime Commission, Chief of Police for the City of Omaha, Neb., Director of Security for Texaco, American Express, Owens-Illinois and Boyd Gaming and Commissioner of Public Safety for the State of Vermont (Col. with the Vermont State Troopers). He is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Rosalie Marie (Murray) Lynch; his son, Francis I. Lynch; his daughters, Shauna M. (Hughes) Lynch and Kristen M. Lynch; his brother, James; three grandchildren, Colin, Kerry and Kelly Hughes; and dozens of nephews and nieces, cousins, in-laws and countless close friends. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, immediately followed by a reception.
