Frank Perna, 77, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 26, 2011. He was born May 24, 1933, in Kelayres, Pa., and was a 19-year resident of Nevada. Frank served in the N.J.U.S. National Guard and U.S. Army during the Korean War. An advocate, artist and patriot who loved his country, Frank spent his youth and raised his family in New Jersey. He devoted his time and efforts to helping to assist in causes that would help both the veterans and the homeless of Nevada. A constant contributor to the Letters to the Editor section of many publications, he also submitted letters to many officials in all levels of government to try to further a cause. Frank tried hard to keep the U.S. Post office profitable with his multitude of letters submitted to help those who could not help themselves. Frank Perna was the real deal; he walked like he talked and reached out his hand to help others. Frank leaves behind his wife, of 52 years, Angela; son, Maurice Perna (deceased); daughter, Mary Margolin of Los Angeles; son-in-law, Mitch Margolin; granddaughters, Deena and Natalie Margolin; and his brother, Anthony Perna of Las Vegas. He will be inconsolably missed by his walking and relaxing companion, Ruby. Viewing will be 3-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local shelter that can directly help any person or family in need.
