

Homer Enfer (H.E.) Burton, 100, went to his heavenly home on December 16, 2014, with family by his side in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born May 7, 1914, in Louisville, Clay County, Illinois and resided in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1960. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mildred Ruth Burton. He is survived by his daughter Joyce (Burton) Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Richard Burton and daughter-in-law Sara Burton of Canton, Georgia; daughter Jeannine Barneby and son-in-law David Barneby of Twin Falls, Idaho; and grandchildren Mary (Walker) Bannen, Joseph Walker, Keith Burton, Christine (Burton) Van de Cayzeele, Jennifer Barneby, Lisa Barneby; and four great grandchildren. At the age of 19, H.E. bought his first business and grew it into a sizeable cookie and candy company. At 30 he became a public servant, and was elected to be the first mayor of Loves Park, Illinois providing oversight for a burgeoning community. While continuing to expand his business endeavors in California, he received a calling to the ministry and served as an ordained reverend, helping to lead many to faith. In 1960 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked in the field of death and dying supporting cemetery services, counseling and guiding those in need of comfort. Through all of this, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and maintained an unshakeable faith in God. His faith became the foundation for his life and a legacy passed on to his family, friends and those who would encounter his infectious spirit for the Lord.
