

Hubert (Hugh) Allen Grummer, devoted husband, father of two, grandfather of 4 and great grandfather of 2, along with a friend to many, passed away on September 4, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 80.
Hugh was born in Conway, Arkansas on April 18, 1942 to Philip Grummer and Nora Carter Grummer. Both his parents and brother Phillip Grummer Jr., preceded him in death. After graduation from St. Joseph’s High School, he turned down a basketball scholarship to enlist in the United States Marines. While serving on Embassy duty in Karachi, Pakistan, he met the love of his life Yvonne Diana Reuben. They were married in Conway on November 21, 1964 and welcomed two children into their lives, David Grummer of California and Diana Grummer Reininger of Georgia.
Hugh spent almost 40 years in the Marines, primarily in the field of logistics, ultimately achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served during the Vietnam War, Desert Storm along with doing tours of duty in El Toro California, Iwakuni Japan, New River North Carolina, Naples Italy, Okinawa Japan, Atsugi Japan, and various state-side assignments. Lieutenant Colonel Grummer’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2nd Gold Star, Navy Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal with 2 Stars.
Upon retirement from the Marines, Hugh worked as a contractor for nearly 11 years in Japan. When Hugh finally retired, he and Yvonne relocated to Las Vegas, NV where he enjoyed golf, served as president of his Home Owners Association, stayed connected with family and old friends and made many new ones. He was a member of Saint John Neumann Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by son David of California, a daughter Diana and her husband Peter Reininger of Fayetteville, GA, four grandchildren; Carissa Grummer of Clovis, NM, Dakota Grummer of Denver, CO, Thomas Reininger and Rachel Reininger of Fayetteville, GA, and two great-grandchildren; Kyson & Maliyah Ramirez of Clovis, NM. His beloved wife Yvonne passed away on September 22, 2022 after an extended illness.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 19th at the Palm Mortuary Northwest, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. Internment will follow at 3 pm.
