Isaac John West (Ike) was born on November 4, 1929 in Wilkinsburg, PA. He was born to the late Isaac West and Eleanor Taliaferro and was the third sibling born to ten children, William, Emma, Gilbert, James, Stanley, Richard, Ada, Margie and Caroline.
At an early age he accepted Christ into his life. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged May 28th, 1953. In 1956 Isaac met and fell in love with Nina Smith. They were united in marriage on February 4, 1957. From this union five children were born, John Alfonso West, Rita West-Story, Helena West, Cheri Fulmore and Isaac Matthew West.
Isaac graced this earth with his presence. There are a few rare, miraculous occasions when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force. Isaac was just that an unstoppable force whom consistently test and pushed his own physical limitations and overcame them through his incredible wit and sense of humor. Where others were satisfied with remaining content with their position in life, Isaac moved forward and refused to be idle. Where there was adventure, there was Isaac. It is this strength of spirit, unconditional love, and unending strength that we will remember and strive to replicate in our lives.
In the early morning on Monday, November 5, 2018, Isaac raised his hands, smiled, then departed this life for eternal after a promise to his family that he would spend his 89th birthday with them.
He was preceded in death by William West, Emma Roebuck, Gilbert West, Stanley West, Richard West and Caroline Johnson.
