In Loving Memory of Surpure Uncle

I first met Surpure Uncle in 1994, when we visited him and Aunty in Las Vegas. From that very first day, they made us feel completely at home, and over the years our bond only grew stronger.

Uncle was a man of love, enthusiasm, and care for everyone. His entrepreneurial spirit and positivity inspired me deeply and guided my own personal growth and life journey.

He will always remain in my heart as a source of strength and inspiration

Dear Ratan, Sudhir, Shantanu, Amolika, Anika, and Agastya:

We are so saddened and shocked to hear about dear Dr. Surpure’s passing away. We feel bad we were not in touch with Dr Surpure and all of you in the last few years during your battle with doctor’s illness and did not know what he and all of you were going through. 

We have very fond memories of our life together since you arrived in Oklahoma, especially our weekly Bal Vihar get together for many years.  We saw Jack as a very courageous and adventurous friend who always found his way to success in any and every area he chose to be engaged with. We very much miss him and all of you. We were so lucky to have Dr Surpure and all of you in our life. We learned from Dr Surpure not to give in to any obstacles. He always found his way tactfully. His ability to laugh at difficult situations was a source of inspiration to all of us. We will miss him sorely. 

We join you in your sorrow and we look forward to seeing you all sometime soon.

I'm extremely saddened by the news of demise of Dr. Kaka. All of us were lucky to have him as the leader of our project Samaira which recently won the Best Film handling Social Subject at the 60th Maharashtra State Film awards. 
We had planned many things but now it's my responsibility to take the film to its final destination. That will be my salute to Dr kaka. ❤️🙏🏼

I am truly saddened for the loss of  my dear friend Dr. Surpure.
He was a man of outstanding qualities.
A Born Leader, a Selfless Do-gooder, forever an Optimist, and a true, Active Friend of our home country: India.
The Joshi and Surpure families have been friends for over 45 years. Our children; members of the 'Bal Vihar; grew up together, learning their life values, growing their personalities and ambitions together.  Dr. Surpure was instrumental in teaching the children, (and their parents!) the outdoor life. 
I remember when the Surpure family came to OKC, they lived in a tent at KOA camp off of I-35. ...And now, through sheer determination and efforts, the family owns a Palatial Mansion in LV!

My closest personal interaction with Doctor was during the late eighties. We both were facing uphill struggles in our careers. To 'find ourselves' we took off to the Himalayas, leaving our wives and children behind. We came back with greater determination to succeed. Doctor, in a kind hearted pediatrician that he was, found the time to help poor children of  Nepal, by visiting a hospital in Kathmandu.
 
His was a visionary entrepreneur. He had a thriving practice in India. But he aimed even higher and broader. He came to the US, succeeded in academic medicine, in real estate, pediatric emergency care, and movie production businesses.  At one point he encouraged me to manufacture 'Ear-wax removal kit' and also to get into Banking business....However, I was not as brave as he was!

His love of travel took him to numerous countries. With Paranjapes and us, we took trips to South America, Alaska and cruise to Mexico. They are our most memorable trips.

Now he is on a trip to Moksha. 
Knowing his whole life as a true KarmaYogi, We are sure that he will attain the Moksha.

Dear Auntie, Shantanu, Sudheer, Amolika and family, I am so heartbroken to hear of Uncles passing. He was a central member of my OKC extended family that guided me throughout my life. I have so many wonderful memories of ski trips, camping trips, thanksgivings, Diwali and Christmas (Ratan aunties rum cake!) — they are some of the warmest family moments which connected all of us OKC kids as a family.  He always checked in on me on what I was doing, what I was pursuing and took pride in my accomplishments. He had a kind word, or a joke, especially when teasing me about becoming a lawyer one day :) I consider myself lucky to have so many loving parental guides. Will miss him dearly. To my very likely second Oklahoma family, where there were countless impromptu childhood sleepovers with Shantanu and Sudheer I became very close with Uncle ‘Doctor’ Surpure and Ratan Auntie. His medical guidance, life advice, and inclusion in many ski trips ( in Vanagon) to Colorado laid the path for my now blessed medical career here in Denver. I am truly saddened at his passing, but know like me, many he touched will be pioneers like him in their endeavors. Uncle ‘Doctor’ Surpure was an amazing man. Dr Surpure , son of Bharat , was passionate for the wellbeing of children and future generation in general .  An ethical doctor with highest moral values .

He spent lots of time, effort and money doing charitable work in Pune, Maharashtra region.  He attended many Pediatric Conferences as Speaker in US and in India.   We will terribly miss him.

Ratan Auntie, Sudheer, and Shantanu, very sad to hear this news.  Although it’s been many years since I’ve seen Uncle Surpure, the countless weekends, during childhood,  that our little group spent at each others’ homes (including yours) helped shape who I am today. It’s where I learned the values I hold, and that you need not be related by blood to be considered family.  His was a life extremely well lived, which still doesn’t make this point in time any easier.  Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was great love. Thinking about your family and sending lots of love, hugs, and peacefulness.

I worked with Dr Surpure for 7 years and can honestly say it was an honor. I love to boast that he was the only person I knew that was triple board certified. But I was always more impressed with all the hard work he put into India. Of course, he was an outstanding doctor, but more he was an outstanding man. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Our heartfelt condolences to Surpure family, we were sad to hear the news of Jaganath’s passing away on the 30th afternoon May God Give you all strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss to you all. We still cannot believe he is not with us anymore. A great friend no more. May God Bless his soul.

Dear Surpure family

Dr Surpure i have known since childhood in Oklahoma.  He always asked me how school was going.  It was not later till medical college that he was not only my mentor during my ER rotation but I came to find out that this uncle was a serious pioneer in pediatric emergency medicine and because of him and pediatric emergency protocols he pioneered that probably thousands of kids lives have been saved.  May god bless his soul.
