James Preston Weaver, 68, of Las Vegas, passed away April 23, 2011. He was born May 15, 1942, in Lake Providence, La., to Jerry and Emma Weaver. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, James moved to Las Vegas after receiving an honorable discharge, where he met the love of his life, Minnie. They were united for 45 years.
He was employed by the Clark County School District for over 31 years as a diesel mechanic shop supervisor.
James was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and one brother. James leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Minnie; four children, Ran Edward Smith Jr. of Reno, Kelian Jordan (Gary) of Las Vegas, Preston Weaver of Las Vegas, and James A. Waver of Reno; three brothers; three sisters; and a host of friends and relatives.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1240 W. Adams St., Las Vegas, NV 89106. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m., at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City.
