In the song of life, Jason Michael Kovacs was surely the composer. A very observant man who would spend his time doing rather than talking, Jason preferred to live in a world of harmony where everything around him made sense. In fact, he depended on his sensory world to provide him with concrete data. Jason believed that actions definitely spoke for themselves. He seemed to know what fit and what didn’t fit in everything he did. Jason perceived that all of life’s possibilities were open to him, yet he lived with a definite sense of purpose. He was a man who was always willing to share anything he had, or do anything he could, with those around him.
Jason was born on September 3, 1977 at Woman's Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jason was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and Rohnert Park, California. As a young child, Jason was optimistic in his outlook. He sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to apply his natural abilities. Jason rarely called attention to himself, but when he did speak out his message was clearly understood by those around him.
As he was growing up, Jason developed into a person who enjoyed physically doing things, and he took pleasure in using his hands in order to create or fix anything. He was a fixer, he could repair anything under the sun, and if he didn’t know how, he knew where to look. Whether it was, building birdhouses or cars with his children at a Lowe’s workshop, or removing yet another virus from a friend’s computer, or replacing the transmission in a neighbor’s vehicle, Jason extended his hand to anyone in need. In his spare time he liked anything tech related. Jason loved anything he could take apart and put back together.
Early on in his school years, Jason showed an interest in learning, especially when it came to anything with numbers. In college, Jason showed that he was able to focus on what was necessary. He found it quite easy to dive headlong into classes, especially those that truly interested him. Using his understanding of anything to do with math or technology, Jason was able to move comfortably through a wide variety of courses. He earned his Associate of Arts in Information Technology from ITT Tech. He was in the National Honor Society made the Dean's List in school.
Those who didn’t know Jason well might not view him as being an outgoing person, those who called him their friend knew differently. Jason was shy and sensitive, a person who never forced his opinions and values on others. Close friends knew that his kindness was unmatched, and once you became a friend of Jason’s, you understood how true a friend he could be. He still remains friends with many people he knew as a child.
Jason married Criston Marie Mayorga on August 15, 2008 at Rainbow Gardens in Las Vegas, Nevada after a lifelong friendship. The two met as kids in elementary and junior high school and came together again in their twenties to marry and start their family. Jason and Criston have two sons Casey and Blake. He was extremely devoted to his family. They always came first. He loved being a dad and anyone who saw him interacting with them knew it. Jason was exceptionally sympathetic and compassionate when it came to his children. These emotional bonds made him as much playmate as parent. He gave his family unconditional love and kindness, sharing his passion by turning everyday events into creative play.
Jason found ways to enjoy what he did for a living. He worked hard and did his best to succeed every day. His primary occupation was a Systems Administrator and worked in I.T. for over 16 years. Jason tended to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done without imposing his will on others.
Jason enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Any opportunity to take his boys fishing or camping was at the top of his list. He also enjoyed watching them challenge the waves on the beach. The quietness and peacefulness of the outdoors seemed to be his oasis. He was relaxed in his approach to his leisure time because he wanted to savor the present moment.
Jason liked sports and played soccer throughout most of his school age years. Jason was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. At the top of his list was watching the San Francisco 49rs play football, win or lose, he was a devoted fan.
Jason’s faith in God was important to him. He attended Canyon Ridge Christian Church. During that time, among other things, he loved leading cubbies in AWANA. This is a preschool age ministry. He had such patience for children of all ages. Jason's passionate commitment to upholding his values placed him at home in his religion, where he took comfort in the company of others who believed as he did.
Jason passed away on October 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his parents, his wife Criston and his sons Casey and Blake, and many other loving family members. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary. Jason was laid to rest in Palm Northwest Cemetery.
Jason was a good man, a kind man, and a practical man who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. He leaves behind him a treasury of life-long friendships and wonderful memories. Jason always had much to give and was able to make those connections in his life where his gifts were appreciated. Jason was a faithful, practical and loving person. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Jason Michael Kovacs.
