Jimmie was born on July 20, 1942 to Shelby and Verla Young in Mobile, AL. In 1963, Jimmie met Evelyn in Glen Burnie, MD. They fell in love almost instantly and were lifelong partners. Jimmie and Evelyn moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1982. They had their one and only biological daughter Wendy Young in 1966. Wendy has two children, Brittney and Tesia. Jimmie and Evelyn took legal custody of Tesia and she has called him “Dad” ever since, he saved her life in more ways than one.
Jimmie served our country in the Army. He served and mentored as a Warden in the Prison. He was an Officer at Parole and Probation and after he retired he went on an amazing journey of being a Private Investigator with some of his best friends, Robert Lawson and Howard Saxon.
Jimmie was an absolute force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He was called a hero and father figure by many. He would give you the shirt off of his back without even blinking. He was a solid role model. He was a family man and his family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Anyone who knew Jimmie knew that he was the most loving partner, father, grandfather and friend anyone could ask for. He loved to be in the mountains, riding horses, fishing, shooting guns, watching the news, cracking jokes, eating Evelyn’s southern cooking, being with his grandchildren and most importantly being with his wife of 60 years, Evelyn. Jimmie and Evelyn shared a love that you can not put into words, they have shown their family the truest and purest form of love that everyone dreams of having.
Jimmie was predeceased by his mother, Verla, his father Shelby, and his sister Patti. He is survived by Evelyn, Tesia, Wendy, Brittney, Bryan and his 6 great grandchildren Trystin, Ariya, Audree, Rylee, Tobias and Ezekiel.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to their home. There will be a Celebration of Life as Jimmie lived an amazing and fulfilling life and deserves to be celebrated, he would not want anyone standing over him and weeping. He will be cremated and some ashes will be spread in the Mountains with the wild horses per his request. We are three weeks out from bringing him home and we want him with us as we celebrate. The final details are being worked out and once confirmed will be posted on his daughter, Tesia Mirando’s Facebook Page.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmnorthwest.com for the Young family.
