Avis de décès de Jimmy Ray Brown
AUX SOINS DE

Palm Cheyenne Mortuary

Jimmy Ray Brown passed peacefully on December 2, 2023.

He will be fondly remembered for his sharp sense of humor, love of family and friends, pride of service, playful antics and good jokes, and his strong desire to be the winner at a round of golf.

He was born November 27, 1935, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Son to Carl T. & Carrie L. Brown of Lake Providence, Louisiana.

He joined the Navy and proudly served this country for 32 years: retiring in 1989 as a Master Chief Petty Officer from NAS Corpus Christi, TX.

He married Gladys Emma Clarke November 24, 1962, while stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada. He and Gladys had two children born in Meridian, Mississippi - Raymond Scott Brown and Tina Lynne Brown.

His naval career in Air Traffic Control took him to Guam / Honolulu, HI / Argentia, NL / Meridian, MS / Jacksonville, FL / Lemoore, CA / Antarctica and Corpus Christi, TX. He enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of his fellow Naval colleagues around the globe.

Retirement was just as storied with his constant energy and desire for golf, travel, bowling, reading and of course being the proud “Poppy Brown” to his three “Bestest and Mostest” beloved granddaughters Jordyn Taylor Farewell, Nycole Tiffany Oliver, and Madeline Shea Brown.

He is survived by his loving children, Scott Brown, wife Juliette of Seattle, WA. Tina Oliver, Ex-husband Bill of Las Vegas, NV. Granddaughters, Jordyn, Nycole, and Madeline that were his LIGHT in life. Brother Felix Brown, wife Janice of Sterlington, LA. Many nieces, nephews, special family friends Ron & Peggy Jester, and many other cherished friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Lee Brown; Father, Carl Teasdale Brown; Brothers - Carl Teasdale Brown Jr; James Howard Brown; and Sister Estelle Louise White.

A celebration for Jimmy Ray Browns’ life will take place with his dear family and friends in his home state of Louisiana.
