Joan Margaret Behrens

Joan Margaret "Jody" Behrens, 76, of Las Vegas, NV, loving mother and devoted wife, died unexpectedly December 12, 2014. She was born April 10, 1938 in Neligh, NE, to the late Lyndon and Margaret (Muff) McKamy. She graduated from St Joseph's School of Nursing in Omaha, in 1959. Her long career in nursing included acting as the Director of Nursing for a skilled nursing facility, as a home health nurse, and as a newborn nursery nurse. She retired in 2005 from Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. Jody's passion was world travel, touring the U.S., Europe, Asia, South and Central America.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lowell; her children, Jana Behrens, Las Cruces, NM, Carol Robrahn, Louisville, KY., Theresa Brown, Los Angeles, CA, Jim Behrens, Phoenix, AZ, Beth Evans, Burlington, VT, Susan Rock, Omaha, NE, Jeff Behrens, Bennett, CO; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Jody was preceded in death by her parents, Lyndon and Margaret (Muff) McKamy; and her brothers, LeRoy (Mac) McKamy and Morris McKamy.

Jody's family and devotion to God through her Catholic faith were the center of her life. Her wisdom and guidance as the matriarch of her family are greatly missed. Jody wished for her life to have significance even after death and gave life to others through organ donation.
