Following an honorable discharge, he worked various jobs before returning to California and opening the John Johannes Construction Company, building homes in the high desert area. Later he joined his brother, Jim, in the Golden State Flooring business, opening an outlet in Pahrump, Nevada.
John is survived by his sister, Mary Young (David), sister-in-law Debbie Johannes, 6 nieces, 2 nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Eric Johannes and life partner, Mandy Beasley.
