

Lester, who was lovingly called Shorty by his closest family and friends, grew up in Iowa during the depression. He was one of 9 children and the son of sharecroppers. At 18 he enlisted in the Navy and World War II. He loved traveling, meeting new people and learning new things. He always had an abundance of energy and liked helping others. His successful career in communications allowed him to travel the US and the World on various assignments.

Lester L. Holmes Jr. was preceded in death by wives, Virginia M. Cantwell, Irma Hartl, and Katheleen Cantwell. Also son, David M. Holmes.
He is survived by children, Leslie Johnson-Murphy, Theresa Hooper, Daniel Holmes, Timothy Holmes and step daughters, Katina M. Lumley and Tona S. Robinson. He is also survived by grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on June 8th 2023 at 12:00PM.
