Logan Scott Cote

Logan Scott Cote, age 19, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2016. Logan was born April 6, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he resided for 17 years before moving to Austin, Texas. Logan, a private first class in the U.S. Army, was stationed at Fort Wainwright, where he served as a paralegal specialist with the Alaska Aviation Task Force's 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment. Previously, he attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and paralegal training at Fort Lee, Virginia. Logan graduated from Westwood High School in Austin in 2015 and previously attended East Career Technical Academy High and West Career Technical Academy High, both in Las Vegas. Logan will always be remembered for his clever wit and confidence. He was charismatic and spoke his mind while maintaining respect for others' opinions at all times. Logan had a passion for being a soldier in the U.S. Army and was driven to serve. He was highly regarded by his fellow soldiers as being bright, dependable and an excellent soldier, and the platoon was better for him. Logan loved his friends and in return was much loved by them. He was always on the go; Alaska's hot springs became a special place for him. When not with friends, Logan maintained a loving relationship with his girlfriend, Taylor. Keeping himself in peak physical condition by running and working out was also very important to him. He had a great love for music, enjoying many genres and could often be found with headphones on or close by. Logan is survived by his father, Rick Cote, of Austin, Texas; mother and stepfather Robin and Joe Teran, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; stepmother Jacqueline Wens, of Austin; older brother Colby Cote, of Las Vegas; older sister Ashleigh Cote, of Austin; younger siblings Sebastian and Daniella Teran, of Las Cruces; grandparent Melinda Cote; and step-grandparents Manuel and Leonor Teran. Logan also had many uncles, aunts and cousins who he left behind. He was preceded in death by grandparents Marshall and Bonnie Crawford, and grandfather Rickie Cote. A viewing will be held 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, also at Palm Northwest. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, after the funeral.
