Grandmother to eleven Great-grandmother to fourteen
Charlene was born in DeKalb, Illinois to Ethel and Clyde Stewart. She grew up in Geneva and got her first job working in a soda shoppe while in high school. Char married in 1947 and worked at Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator. In 1958, the family moved to Las Vegas where she raised four children. In 1979, she got a job at Mervyn's doing inventory by hand before being promoted to selling fine jewelry.
Charlene was fastidious. She always tried to look her best and she kept an immaculate home where she was a warm and loving hostess when friends and family came to call. She enjoyed her yard and all her flowers thanks to a lot of help from her son-in-law, Paul. A great cook, she prepared nutritious and delicious meals even on a budget, and always put her family's needs before her own. Her refrigerator was covered with photos of her beloved family and friends, her greatest delight in life. She was an enthusiastic bowler and a member of the First Methodist Church of Las Vegas where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved to dance and reminisce!
We will miss you Mom, Grama, and Greatgrama.
