

Magdalena is survived by her two children, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three siblings.
Magdalena was born on August 28, 1932 in Waipahu, Hawaii to Tecla and Canuto Gamponia. She graduated from Waipahu High School in 1949. She married Flaviano Santa Ana, Jr. in 1953. After moving to Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Magdalena began working for Kaiser Permanente as a Human Resources personnel for over 20 years.
Magdalena was the family matriarch, family counselor, and the embodiment of aloha.
Her daughter, Mavine, married Roland Tolentino and is followed by their children, Rylan, Chelsey, and Jonnel. Chelsey married into the Doria family with husband, Fernando Doria, residing in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and is followed by their children Gauge and Hunter. Jonnel Tolentino is followed by her children Kiana, Luke, and Ezekiel.
Her son, Floyd, married Esther Ramos and is followed by their children Isaac, Elory, and Jeremy. Elory married into the Bowens family with husband, Zachary Bowens, residing in Fairbanks, Alaska, and is followed by their children Zachary Jr. and Ellie. Her siblings, Beatrice Codera resides in Pahrump, Nevada; Florence Oyape resides in Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and William Gamponia Sr. resides in Aiea, Hawaii.
She is preceded in death by her husband Flaviano Santa Ana, Jr. of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; her mother Tecla Gamponia and father Canuto Gamponia; siblings Vergie Hilua, Albert Kalakai, Violet Eltagonde, and Gloria Campogan.
Her children remember her as both a refined and socially respected mother who encouraged them to pursue their life’s happiness.
Magdalena’s legacy will be remembered by her activities enjoyed at home. She was distinguished in her cooking and baking of local foods from Hawaii like pansit, pinakbet, pork gisantes, oxtail soup, and Filipino desserts like ginataan and butter mochi. She enjoyed her music, strumming the ukulele to tunes like “Tiny Bubbles” by the late Hawaiian artist, Don Ho. She mastered the arts and crafts by crocheting her family scarfs and blankets, and weaving Hawaiian ribbon leis for special family occasions, like birthdays and graduations. She developed her unique beauty, style and fashion. She would be seen sporting the timeless short perm hairstyle, pampering herself with manicures and pedicures, and perfecting her makeup and skin routine. She would sew fabrics with her favorite colors, red, white, and black. She collected her personal creations like her household ceramics, statues, and cat figurines. She tended to her collection of indoor plants and flower gardens; including tea leaves, roses, strawberries, lemon grass, and other kitchen herbs. She will be remembered for her love of animals; her pet dogs and fish, and especially her lovebirds. She will also be remembered for her life’s stories of her friends and their travels, where she traveled to the mainland and held countless family gatherings at her home.
A funeral is scheduled for service on Saturday, January 21, 2017, 11:00AM at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89128. Pastor Lance Boloran will officiate the ceremony.
