Mariah Roby, 75, an in-service teacher, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. She was born May 15, 1937, in Atlanta, and was a 14-year resident of Nevada. Mariah was preceded in death by her son, Lionel Emil Roby; and sister, Edith Austin. Mariah is survived by her husband, William G. Roby; sons, William Grant Roby Jr. of Flint, Mich., and Dr. David Lamont Roby of Alexandria, Va.; daughter, Carmel Lucinda Roby of Las Vegas; son, Adrian Lee Rolby of Sacramento, Calif; sister, Catherine Chukes of Crockett, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, with funeral services following, both at Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison. Graveside services will be at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
