

Matthew T. Crosson, age 61, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 23, 2010, in Las Vegas. He was the beloved husband of Elaine; loving father of Daniel; dear brother of Dr. Francis J. Crosson (Dr. Sharon Levine) of Palo Alto, Calif.; and also survived by six nieces; and nephews. A graduate of Georgetown University and Fordham University School of Law, he also held honorary doctor of law degrees from Dowling College, Oakdale, N.Y. and St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, N.Y. At the time of his death, Matt was president and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, a role he assumed in April 2010. Prior to that time, Matt was president and chief executive officer of the Long Island Association (LIA) from 1993 to 2010. He began his career as an assistant district attorney for New York County in 1974. In 1983, Matt was named assistant counsel to Governor Mario M. Cuomo. In 1985, he was appointed deputy chief administrator of the NYS Unified Court System and was later promoted to chief administrator from 1989 to 1993. In addition to his role with the LIA, Matt was president of the LIA Health Alliance, Inc., and a director or trustee of WNET, Inc., WLIW/21, the Committee for Modern Courts, LI Housing Partnership, Dowling College and other not-for profit corporations. As co-host of several weekly news programs such as "The Cutting Edge," "Focus 55" and "Crosson and Welles," he was well-known to viewers in the New York Metro area. There will be a memorial service at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Palm Mortuary-Summerlin, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. A service will also be held in Long Island in February.
