

Michael Thomas Walsh passed away peacefully on June 22, 2021 after a year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Born December 5th, 1946 to Thomas and Antionette Walsh in Chicago, he was the eldest of two children. Growing up he was a avid baseball player and followed in his fathers footsteps as a catcher for most of his baseball career through high school where he was on the Varsity team. He attended Lindblom HS and graduated in 1964, after graduation he attended University of Illinois, Chicago and obtained a degree in Accounting. During college he met the love of his life, Judith Schomer who would remain by his side from March 21st, 1970 until his death. Michael was drafted into the Army shortly after graduating from college and would spend his deployment in Europe until his honorable discharge in 1972. The couple returned to Chicago to start their lives where Michael worked in healthcare starting out as a payroll coordinator and rapidly worked his way up finishing his distinguished career having served as mainly a CFO, COO and CEO of several hospitals along the way until his retirement in 2008. While he was a hard working man, he was a family man too. He and Judy had two children along the way (Brian and Carly) along with many pets. Michael took a leap with his family in 1983 and moved from Chicago to Las Vegas to be the CFO at Valley Hospital. Micheal was an avid sportsman, he coached his kids in Baseball, softball and soccer transferring all his knowledge to them along the way. He served in many capacities at many healthcare organizations in Las Vegas, but primarily with UHS and UMC, finishing his distinguished career at the Clark County Health District from where he retired in 2008. He and Judy celebrated 51 years of marriage just prior to his passing. Michael was an avid golfer with 3 hole-in-ones along his almost 30 years of playing golf. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and great-grandfather. Michael is survived by his wife Judy, son Brian, daughter and son-in-law Carly and Michael, sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Greg, his 5 grandchildren (Taylor, Luke, Paris, Riley and Bella), 2 great grandchildren (Jaxon and Nixon), his cousins and several nieces and nephews.
