

Monice Patricia Keller, age 87, passed away peacefully at European Home Care, on May 4, 2013. She was a long time Las Vegas resident, relocating from California in 1951 with her parents, Lloyd and Marie Allen of Los Angeles, California. She helped to build and was a part owner of the Monie Marie Motel, one of the first motels on the Las Vegas Strip, which opened May 5, 1951.
Monice worked in the City Clerk’s office for the City of Las Vegas for over 20 years. She was active in the St. Anne School PTA in the fifties and a member of St. Anne Catholic Parish. She was an avid antique and Pez collector and enjoyed many trips to California visiting antique shops with her friends in California and Nevada.
She is preceeded in death in 2007 by her husband of 62 years, Jake Keller. Monice was a very loving mother and is survived by her three children, Nancy Sloan, John Keller, Jr., and Dr. James Keller of Las Vegas. She was a very loving grandmother to Jennifer Hilsabeck (Jeremy) and Lauren Yearout (Jason), and a loving great-grandmother to Joe Kennedy Jr., Zoë Marie Yearout, and twin brothers, Jaegar Hilsabeck and Jake Hilsabeck.
She will be missed by her entire family and all who knew her.
