Nirmal Khanna

Mrs. Khanna was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Sarwan Kumar Khanna and a beloved mother to Madhu and Andrew Stemmermann, Meena Khanna, and Bindu Khanna. She was the proud grandmother of Savanna Stemmermann and Krish Khanna, a loving sister to Inder Khanna and the late Vinod Nanda, and the sister-in-law of Subhash Khanna and Shammi Nanda. Nirmal will always be remembered for her elegance, her charm and high energy, along with a sense of hospitality that was absolutely rare. She had boundless generosity and love towards her family and friends.

Born in Lahore, India, Nirmal was the daughter of Brij Lal Nanda and Mrs. Lajwanti Nanda. Her life was defined by strength, determination, and wisdom, as she devoted herself to raising three accomplished daughters. She supported each of them with unwavering love and encouragement, always finding joy in their successes. A devoted and selfless mother, family was her greatest priority and source of pride.

Nirmal shared over 60 years of marriage with her loving husband, Dr. Sarwan Kumar Khanna. Their enduring partnership was built on deep respect, love, and a shared sense of adventure. After his passing a year ago, she continued with remarkable resilience, honoring his memory through her stories and by nurturing the family they created together.

Nirmal was a gifted teacher and an accomplished interior designer. She also had a passion for travel, exploring the world with her husband and family. Whether discovering bustling cities or tranquil landscapes, her travels were filled with curiosity and the joy of creating lifelong memories with her loved ones.

In addition to her family, Nirmal treasured her friendships. She formed lifelong bonds in Indiana and cultivated meaningful new ones in Las Vegas, where she enjoyed playing cards, attending bhajans, and gathering with friends.

A funeral service for Nirmal will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Lunch will be served at 1:45 pm at Mint Indian Bistro, 730 E. Flamingo Rd, Unit 9 & 10, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Nirmal Khanna may be made to the Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Indiana.
