After 88 years of caring for his family and friends, the wonderful life of Pat Ross Ferraro came to an end on March 18, 2012 at his home in Las Vegas, NV. Vigorous and of clear mind to the end, Pat’s death was sudden and unexpected.
Pat was born on January 20, 1924 in Summerville, PA, hometown of his mother Angelina Ferraro who married a rugged Italian immigrant name Deodoro (Ted) Ferraro, a partner with his brother Louis Ferraro in the produce wholesale business in PA. Pat was the firs born son, following two older sisters, Theresa and Marion, and preceded his younger sister Rose.
The Ferraro family migrated north to Niagara Falls, NY in the late 1920’s where Ted began a trucking business, which sustained his wife and four children for the next 40 years. Pat became a partner in this business after serving four years in the US Army during WW II.
Pat was married in 1946 to his first love, Jeanne, whom he met at Niagara Falls High School and had their first son, Patrick in 1947. A daughter, Marcia was born in 1950, after which they bought their first home on the GI Bill. The Korean Conflict activated his reserve unit and he served at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base until discharged.
In 1963, Pat moved his family to southern California, where he spent a few years working for a major van lines, then opened Ferraro Van Line in the City of Thousand Oaks, CA. Pat, with his wife, ran the business together as they did in Niagara, until Jeanne died of cancer in 1973.
In 1975, Pat married Edith Seid, who was the realtor who had sold him his first home in Thousand Oaks in 1963.
Edith and her four children enlarged Pat’s family to its current number of six children, who all survive him, including Myrna ( ), Cheryl (Harris), Bryan Seid and Mark Seid. Pat is also survived by his son, Patrick, and daughter, Marcia (Martin) and five grandchildren: Chrysalis Rose Ferraro, Nicholas John Ferraro, Angela Martin, Jessica Brandanisio, Caitlin Seid, Niki ( ) and two great-grandchildren born to Niki.
After 15 years in the trucking business in Thousand Oaks, Pat and Edith sold Ferraro Van Line and semi-retired to Las Vegas. Edith died in 2006 and Pat moved and lived in Solera Senior Community in Las Vegas until his death.
Services have already been held in Las Vegas. Pat’s remains will be interred at St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery at the grave of Jeanne Ferraro in Niagara Falls, NY at a date to be determined. Please post condolences at Palm Mortuary website:
