A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Palm Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nv with Chaplin, Richard Martin of Nathan Adelson Hospice, officiating.
Patrick was born in the Bronx, New York, to Vince and Jane Somma on December 3, 1955. As a child, in a military family, he spent his first five years in Germany. Upon returning to the States, he lived in Maryland, then San Antonio, Texas, and finally settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1970. He graduated from High School in 1972. In 1977, he married Debra Little in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas for two years. Over the next 30 years he worked in the construction industry. He started his construction journey as a Clark County and City of Las Vegas Public Works inspector. He left the public sector and branched out independently as a handyman, taking on plumbing, appliance repair, and electrical projects. He then returned to the construction industry and worked for Perini Corporation as a Project Manager. His projects included The Luxor Hotel, Sands Expo, and the Showboat Hotel remodel. After leaving Perini, he worked as a project manager consultant for numerous builders in the Las Vegas/Henderson area. His final consultant project was in Hawaii where he managed a project that restored and remodeled a hotel that had been destroyed in a Hurricane.
When his health did not allow him to work full time anymore, he applied to the LVMPD to volunteer. Volunteering was one of the greatest joys of that part of his life. He started writing handicap parking tickets, and as a right fighter, he loved catching people who misused the spots. From there, he went to the job that gave him the greatest joy. Working with the dedicated men and women of the forensics department where he volunteered for 8 years. He was so proud when they gave him projects to do. It was a very sad day when his health would no longer allow him to do this.
In his earlier years he was involved with the Sons of Italy organization, pool leagues, and bowling leagues. He enjoyed playing golf and playing cards with family and friends. Pat was the life of the party and was always ready to make someone laugh or smile.
In his later years, his favorite pastimes were gun collecting and target shooting. He also loved spending time with his family and his humor will be dearly missed. And as his great grand daughter said “Grampy was born funny”.
Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Somma and Jane Somma.
Patrick is survived by his spouse, Debra Little Somma; children, Sandra (Richard) Bailey and Tony Somma; Brothers Michael Somma and Vincent Somma Jr.; Grandchildren Kerrie (Reggie) Bailey and Karen Bailey; Great Grand-children Jayla Upshaw and Landon Upshaw.
The family of Patrick Somma wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Nathan Adelson Hospice. A special thanks to the nurses of Professional Case Management who took such loving care of him. Pat passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service for Patrick will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
