

Pauline LeSueur Jolley, 92, homemaker and long-time Las Vegas resident, closed this chapter of her life August 5, 2013. Due to natural causes incident to age, she passed away peacefully in her apartment, surrounded by loving family members. The oldest of six children, Pauline was born January 18, 1921 in Mesa Arizona. Pauline grew up in Huntington Park, California, graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1939, a gifted student with Spanish her favorite subject. After her marriage in 1942 she and her husband Lewis started a family in La Canada, California. A business opportunity precipitated their move to Las Vegas in 1955 where she worked as the bookkeeper of her husband's business for many years. Her most cherished gifts were her family members, whom she frequently proclaimed as “all perfect”. Pauline was gifted with a quick smile and forgiving nature. When challenges arose in her life, she took on obstacles with quiet resiliency, continually placing her faith in God as her sure foundation. She loved to laugh and have a good time; a LeSueur family trait which served her well. Pauline enjoyed a lifelong close and loving relationship with her siblings and their spouses and with her cousins Edwina and Louise. With her love of traveling, Pauline was blessed to visit many lands with her husband, their friends, children, her siblings, and their spouses. She loved art, enjoying china painting, oil painting, playing the piano, sewing and crocheting. An avid reader and gifted writer, Pauline wrote plays for church musical productions as well as many selections of poetry. She additionally enjoyed opportunities to teach at various church meetings. Her highest priorities were evident in her devotion to family and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pauline loved chocolate, Ann of Green Gables, visits from Erin, knee-high nylons, paying her tithing, sending birthday cards, André Agassi, and all things purple. She will be greatly missed. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents Karl & Merle LeSueur, her husband Lewis Weston Jolley, a son; Baby Boy Jolley (stillborn), two brothers, Joseph LeSueur and Karl LeSueur Jr., and Sister-in-law, Diana Nielson LeSueur. She is survived by her siblings, John LeSueur (Dolores), Geneva Johnston (Chuck), and Pat Farr (Dave), children Craig L. Jolley, Mark A. Jolley (Sandy), Drew W. Jolley (Joan), Dawn Jolley MacKay (Sid), and Cynthia Jolley Klein (Barry), 22 grandchildren, Andrew, Loren, Amanda, Vance, Erin, Mitch, Jennifer, Jillane, Derek, Jessica, Jason, Sharie, Shannon, Davis, Jesse, Shauna, Ivy, Kenzie, Paul, Mathew, Jordan, and Darin, as well as 33 great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Shawn. The family of Pauline is deeply indebted to the kind staff of Acacia Springs Assisted Living, as well as the wonderful nurses of Harmony Hospice who so tenderly cared for her.
A viewing will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the LDS Peace Way Chapel, 9580 Peace Way, Las Vegas, Nevada, from 9:30-10:45 AM. Funeral services will follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Utah.
