Col. Raymond Thompson, US Army (ret), age 73, of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in Las Vegas. Born December 12, 1939 in South Carolina, he lived in Ohio before moving to Las Vegas in 1996. Colonel Thompson retired from the United States Army in 1994 where he worked as a Quartermaster Officer. He was a member of Buffalo Soldiers, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Desert Springs UMC, and Lakeshore Corvette Club in Sandusky, Ohio and had a passion for Corvettes, working part time at The Auto Collection at The Quad. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ireesa, children Melva (Michael) Thompson-Robinson and Raymond "Doug" Thompson; grandchildren Christopher, Dorian and Lauryn; sisters Mary Lois Cobb, Corrie Christine Thompson, Learlean T. (Larry Thomas) Hill; brother Rev. William R. (Renay) Thompson. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
